ONE OF THE BOYS: ONE OF THE BOYS {INTENDED PILOT; FINAL AIRED EPISODE} (TV)
Summary
The final episode of this comedy series about the disruptive effect on the lives of two Sheffield University roommates when a young-at-heart, feisty grandfather moves into their college apartment.
In this episode, Adam Shields wakes his roommate, the testy Jonathan Burns, to tell him he's off to visit his grandfather, Oliver Nugent, at his latest retirement home. Jonathan reminds Adam to be back in time for their "hot" dates. Their landlady, Mrs. Green, informs Adam that she's planning to raise their rent.
Meanwhile, at the retirement home, Oliver complains of being too young for his fellow retirees and asks Adam to help him escape. Adam brings him back to his apartment and let's him temporarily move in.
When the boys' dates, Jane and Joan, arrive, they are charmed by "gramps" and persuade him to play the piano. He obliges by singing "I Can't Give You Anything But Love." As the evening progresses, Oliver lands up captivating the women -- to Jonathan's great annoyance.
The following day, Adam and Oliver go for a jog, during which Adam advises Oliver against telling Jonathan that his "visit" may be permanent. Commercials deleted. This episode was intended as the series pilot.
