HILL STREET BLUES: DORIS IN WONDERLAND (TV)
Summary
One in this series of police dramas about the personal and professional lives of the officers of Hill Street Station, a precinct located in a run-down urban area. In this episode, political rumblings are evident when a black precinct captain announces his candidacy for mayor. Also, Captain Furillo is ordered to place four officers in a pornographic palace in a different precinct. While the officers deal with the palace's proprietor, Officer Bates is attacked and injured by a customer who is high on drugs. Meanwhile, Officers Hill and Renko are called for backup on a prowler case at an apartment complex; as they arrive they hear gunshots inside and upon entering the apartment they find Officer Perez standing over a dead child. At the precinct, Perez explains the incident to Internal Affairs, saying he saw a gun that happened to be a toy gun. Meanwhile, the undercover officers are narrowing down the targets of their porn palace investigation, but the other cops stationed there are disturbed by the presence of extra law enforcement. Also, everyone is shocked to learn that the mother of the dead child will be charged with negligence and endangerment for leaving her son home alone. Distraught over the incident, Perez confronts the grieving mother to apologize. As the program concludes, Bates heads back to the hospital as her injury worsens, and Furillo receives a phone call about Perez. Commercials deleted.
