CHER ... A CELEBRATION AT CAESARS (TV)
Summary
In this special, Cher performs her nightclub act at Las
Vegas's Caesars Palace. She opens with a cover of the
Pointer Sisters' "Could I Be Dreaming," following up
with performances of "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" and
"You Make My Dreams Come True." Next, in the guise of
"Laverne, impresario extraordinaire," Cher presents a
Chippendales-type show and sings -- as the
unusual-looking Laverne -- "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy?"
Then, Cher comes out in a giant stiletto heel-cum-slide
for a performance of "Those Shoes," leading to her
covers of "Out Here on My Own" and "Take It to the
Limit." Then, Cher introduces "Diana Ross," a female
impersonator who lip-syncs "I'm Coming Out" and is later
joined by Cher. Next, "The Divine Miss M, Bette Midler,"
-- also a female impersonator -- comes onstage to
lip-sync "In the Mood." Then, Cher, "Ross," and
"Midler" perform "You've Got to Have Friends." Next,
"Midler" tells a few vulgar Sophie Tucker stories to the
audience while Cher changes outfits backstage. After
dancers perform a routine inspired by "Urban Cowboy,"
Cher returns to the stage to perform "Lookin' For Love"
and "When Will I Be Loved" -- while riding a mechanical
bull. Cher performs "More Than You Know," then
"auditions" some of her dancers before she performs
"Fame." She closes by introducing J.C. Gaynor as "Ross"
and Kenny Sasha as "Midler," then takes her bows and
reprises "Fame" for a wildly cheering audience.
