Summary
One in this series of programs featuring adaptations of classic children's stories. This program is the second episode in a three-part dramatization of C.S. Lewis's fantasy about the adventures of four brothers and sisters in Narnia, an enchanted land inhabited by mythical creatures and talking animals. Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy enter Narnia through a magical wardrobe closet and face danger and excitement as they help fulfill a prophecy that will save the good creatures of Narnia who suffer under the rule of the evil White Witch. In this part, the children embark on the journey to find the White Witch and save Mr. Tumnus, a fawn who was taken away by the White Witch's secret police. Along the way, they are befriended by Mr. and Mrs. Beaver, who convince the children that the only way to help Mr. Tumnus is to enlist the aid of Aslan, the true ruler of Narnia. The Beavers also tell them of the prophecy of the two sons of Adam and the two daughters of Eve who are to save Narnia and destroy the Witch. Edmund, however, goes off on his own to the White Witch's castle -- the others begin to feel betrayed by their brother and decide that they must find Aslan before the Witch discovers them. While searching for Aslan, the Beavers and the children meet up with Father Christmas, who has been unable to come to Narnia because of the Witch's spell. Father Christmas hints at a forthcoming battle, and bestows upon the children special gifts that will help them on their quest. Continues with T:13898.
