GOOD TIMES: BLACK JESUS (TV)

Summary

One in this comedy series about a struggling black family living in a Chicago housing project, dominated by the flamboyant James "J.J." Evans, Jr., with his rousing signature wail "Dy-no-miiiite!" In this episode, Florida becomes upset when Michael hangs J.J.'s painting of a black Jesus on the wall next to the family's framed print of a conventional rendering of a white Christ. She relents, however, when Michael argues that Jesus could have been dark-skinned, and she allows the painting to be displaced for the duration of black history week. Later, Florida is furious when she learns that J.J.'s model for the painting was the local wino and she grows concerned when the whole family begins to attribute a sudden wave of good fortune to the very presence of the painting.
