ED SULLIVAN SHOW, THE {CAROL BURNETT SEGMENTS}
(TV)
Summary
Two segments from an episode of "The Ed Sullivan Show,"
a variety program presided over by Sullivan. He
introduces both segments, as performed by "the TV
sensation of the year," Carol Burnett. She first sings
"I Made a Fool of Myself Over John Foster Dulles," a
comic tribute to the secretary of state under President
Dwight D. Eisenhower. Returning later in the broadcast,
Burnett performs "Puppy Love," sung as a parody of
teen-geared love ballads, in the character of
six-year-old Googie Fortitude.
(Series title varies; as above, 1955-1971; as "The Toast
of the Town," 1948-1955.)
