BARBARA WALTERS SPECIAL, THE {EDDIE MURPHY, DON JOHNSON, SEAN CONNERY} (TV)
Summary
One in this occasional series of interview specials, hosted by Barbara Walters. On this program, the guests are comedian/actor Eddie Murphy, and actors Don Johnson and Sean Connery.
Highlights include: Eddie Murphy discusses the following topics, among others: why he lives in New Jersey rather than California, where all the Hollywood action takes place; acting out his stage performances as a child, despite the fact that nobody was watching; what the biggest change in his career has been over the last five years; whether he feels like there is something missing from his life; the one true relationship he had in his life and why it didn't work out; his answers to the critics who claim his performances contain too much profanity and extremely touchy subject matter; and his plans to eventually play a dramatic role, direct a film, and record an album.
In the next interview, Don Johnson talks about the following topics, among others: his parents divorce when he was eleven years old and how it affected his outlook on many issues; his initial reaction when his former girlfriend became pregnant; how the birth of his son literally turned his life around and saved him from drugs and alcohol; the various rumors claiming he's once again involved with drugs and alcohol; the qualities he's looking for in a female companion to share the rest of his life with; the age at which he lost his virginity; and his philosophy on life.
In the last segment, Sean Connery discusses the following topics, among others: what his favorite hobby was as a child and why he used to go to the library and read Shakespeare; how he got the part of agent James Bond in the film "Dr. No"; whether the character was fun to play or did it turn out to be a grueling job; despite the outstanding success of the Bond films, why he walked away after six films a very bitter man; why he prefers to play golf with men rather than women; whether he's changed his opinion about a comment he made in the past concerning the treatment of women; and a particular trait which drives him crazy, especially since he deals with people for a living. Includes commercials and promos. This program is closed-captioned.
