WALTONS, THE: THE SPOILERS (TV)
Summary
One in this series of dramas about the Waltons, a large, close-knit family living in rural Virginia during the Great Depression and World War II. In this episode, Ted Hanover returns from New York City to his father's old homestead on Walton's Mountain with his wife Susan and children Alicia and Charles. He dreams of a simple country life for his family, but they do not adapt well outside of the sophisticated, urban environment to which they have become accustomed. The effects they have on the Waltons cause additional problems. Alicia criticizes John-Boy's writing as not commercial enough and tries to convince him to leave college and move to New York; Charles gets fresh with Erin, causing her emotional distress; Mary Ellen begins to cherish ideas of living a glamorous life away from the mountain; and even Olivia succumbs to the enchanting spell of Susan's stories of European travel. Finally, John convinces Ted that this "adventure" in the country is just a feeble attempt to escape from the pressures of urban life -- and not an answer to his problems. Commercials deleted.
