MAVERICK: MAVERICK AND JULIET (TV)
Summary
One in this series of offbeat western dramas about the Mavericks, unlikely heroes who prefer gambling to gunplay. In this episode, Bret gets mixed up in a feud between two families, the Montgomerys and the Carterets, when he is wrongfully accused of trying to help a pair of star-crossed lovers, Juliet Carteret and Sonny Montgomery, elope. While trying to prove his innocence, Bret punches out Juliet's brother Ty. When he comes to, Ty decides he wants to settle things with Maverick in a shootout. Meanwhile, Mr. Carteret, Juliet's father, explains to Bret how the family feud started: the Carterets won land from the Montgomerys in a card game, which the Montgomerys say was not played fairly. Bret suggests that the two clan settle the feud in the same way. He says he will win the Carterets the land fairly in a card game against the Montgomerys in exchange for not having to take part in the shootout. Unfortunately, the Montgomerys hire someone to play for them as well -- Bart Maverick. Includes commercials.
