Summary
One in this series of science fiction programs about the voyages of the U.S.S. Enterprise. In this episode, the landing party is held hostage on a planet by Trelane, a powerful, eccentric alien who is fascinated by humans and their history. At first, Captain Kirk is amused by the self-styled "squire," but Trelane soon puts Kirk on trial in a kangaroo court and sentences him to death for disobeying his orders. When Trelane goes on to lock the Enterprise into orbit around the planet, Kirk realizes that the safety of his crew is at the mercy of a whimsical popinjay. Commercials deleted.
