BONANZA: BANK RUN (TV)
Summary
One in this long-running western drama series about widower Ben Cartwright, his sons, and their adventures on their ranch in Nevada's Ponderosa. In this episode, a greedy megalomaniac named Harrison, who dominates the banking and mining business in the vicinity of Virginia City, is trying to seize control of mineral-rich land belonging to Mr. O'Brien, a neighbor of the Cartwrights'. Harrison conceives of a plan to bankrupt the bank that holds O'Brien's substantial savings in order to acquire his claim. Additionally, Harrison reveals that his next target is the Ponderosa. Since he is unaware that Harrison's machinations threaten the family's security, Ben joins Adam on a brief journey and leaves Joe in charge of the ranch. When Joe learns that the bank has lost its money, he suspects that Harrison is the source of the shady affair and, with Hoss's help, he attempts to salvage the situation. In a series of twists and turns, however, Hoss and Joe stand accused of bank robbery. Ben returns from his trip only to learn that his sons are fugitives from the law, and he quickly discovers that the boys, while innocent of robbery, are guilty of stupidity. Brash action on Ben's part saves the boys' reputation, and cunning work on the boys' part reverses the banking fiasco.
