PHILCO RADIO TIME {THE BING CROSBY SHOW} {BOB HOPE, DOROTHY LAMOUR} (RADIO)
Summary
One in this series of music/variety programs starring Bing Crosby. Crosby and the Charioteers open the program with a performance of "My Heart Goes Crazy." Then, Crosby, Bob Hope, and Dorothy Lamour act out an original play entitled "The Road to Hollywood" in order to depict how and why they all first met. After flopping on Broadway, Bing Crosby decides to head west. On the way he meets a mechanic, Bob Hope, at a garage and convinces him to travel with him. By the time they get to Chicago, they are broke and intend to commit suicide. While heading to the roof of a building, the pair meets Dorothy Lamour, who is working as an elevator operator. She invites them to a cabaret where she works in the evening. At the cabaret, a young Skitch Henderson plays the piano. Crosby and Hope convince Lamour to head to Hollywood with them. On the way, the Crosby sings "Tumbling Tumbleweeds." The traveling trio sell their car in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to an "Indian chief" and manage to secure seats on a bus to Hollywood. After the tale is over, the threesome perform a song about their careers to the theme of the film "The Road to Morocco." At the end of the program, Crosby sings "You Keep Coming Back Like a Song" from the film "Blue Skies." Includes commercials.
