Summary

One in this dramatic anthology series which presents radio adaptations of motion pictures featuring Hollywood stars, often in roles they originated on screen. In this program, Al Jolson and Ruby Keeler star in George Manker Watters and Arthur Hopkins's popular 1927 backstage drama about an alcoholic burlesque performer, Skid Brown, who cannot handle success. When Skid gets an opportunity to leave his tour and perform in the Broadway Follies, he unfortunately, must leave behind his long-time girlfriend, Bonny. Bonny knows that this is a great break for Skid and encourages him to go, although she is jealous of another woman who will be going into the Follies with him. A few months later, Bonny finds that she is no longer receiving any letters from Skid and then discovers that he spends most of his off hours with her rival. Bonny decides to become involved with a ranch owner and contemplates marrying him. However, she decides to see Skid one last time before making up her mind. When she meets up with Skid in New York, she discovers the truth behind his irresponsible behavior. During this program, Al Jolson sings three songs: "Toot, Toot, Tootsie," "Is It True What They Say About Dixie?" and "A Pretty Girl Is Like a Melody."
