ELI STONE: GRACE (TV)
Summary
One in this drama series about a San Francisco attorney that experiences potentially prophetic visions after being diagnosed with an inoperable brain aneurysm. In this episode, Eli confides to Nate that he hasn't had any visions since the return of his aneurysm. As if on cue, Eli hallucinates that he sees a young woman singing "Hit Me With a Hot Note and Watch Me Bounce." Back at the office, Patti explains to Eli why she hasn't told colleagues about his medical setback. Maggie then introduces Eli to client Thomas Hayes, who doesn't want his recently deceased son Daniel to get an Army burial. Thomas explains that his wife Emily is demanding the military honors after Daniel died from a heart condition while stationed in Iraq. Later, Eli attends a ballgame with Nate and sees the woman from his vision. Eli finds out that her name is Grace Fuller and that she's a member of Lawyers Without Limits. The next day, Jordan's plan for the firm to become "more socially responsible" is met with derision by Marci and Martin. Later, Grace calls Eli and admits that the ticket to the baseball game was given to her by an anonymous source. The two end up having lunch. Jordan undergoes more berating as Taylor lashes out about his proposed changes for the firm, though she says she'll publicly support him. Jordan then learns that Marci and Martin have frozen his orders and requested that he get a psychological evaluation. In court, a video from Daniel is played in which he appears to be proud to be in the military. Thomas insists to Eli and Maggie that he's not hiding anything. Later, Jordan refuses Eli's offer to defend him, with Taylor expressing her anger at Eli. That night at a jazz club with Grace, Eli convinces her to dance when the orchestra plays "Hit Me With a Hot Note." However, she says that they can't have a relationship as she's relocating to Kenya for a case the next morning. Later, Thomas tracks down Eli and admits that he contacted a military friend who allowed Daniel's admittance to the Army, despite his heart condition. Thomas then produces a letter in which Daniel berates his father and the Army. When the letter is read the next day by the judge, she rules in Thomas's behalf. A heartbroken Emily says that her marriage to Thomas is over, castigating her husband for causing Daniel's death. At the office, an exasperated Eli tells everyone that the aneurysm is back before going to Nate's house. There, Nate admits that he sent the ticket to Grace, acting on passages from their father's diary. Upon learning that Grace has a potentially fatal heart condition, Eli seeks her out at the airport. Grace admits that she's fallen for him and thanks Eli for their "magical airport moment" before kissing him a tearful goodbye. Commercials deleted.
