PRIVATE PRACTICE: IN WHICH ADDISON FINDS A SHOWERHEAD (TV)
Summary
One in this medical drama series spun off from "Grey’s Anatomy" that chronicles the lives of Dr. Addison Montgomery and her friends and fellow doctors at Oceanside Wellness Group in Los Angeles. In this episode, Addison is frustrated by romantic dreams about Pete, though Naomi urges her not to make them a reality. Pete meets Nicole, a teenage champion runner, whose coach wonders if she needs a natural treatment for her breathing trouble. Violet learns of Addison's dreams from Naomi and assures her friend that it is common, admitting her own secret fantasies about a certain former president. Sam treats a woman, Beth Burton, who explains that she was injured when she surprised a burglar in her home and asks him for a certain drug that blocks traumatic memories. Violet is shocked by a visit from Allan, and Maya secretly calls Addison and tells her that she may have gonorrhea. Addison examines the girl, upset at the idea of her best friend's 13-year-old having sex. Dell prepares to perform his first solo pap smear, growing more nervous when his patient is exasperated and unimpressed with his age.
Pete performs tests on Nicole and soon discovers that she has a serious condition, but she refuses medication, saying that she needs to perform well in an Olympic-qualifying meet. Cooper is annoyed when Violet explains that she and Allan are now "friends," sure that it will go wrong. Violet advises Sam about Beth's case, and though Cooper is alarmed by the news about Maya, he reminds Addison that she cannot tell Naomi about her daughter's sexual activity. Naomi and Violet quiz Addison about her "solo" sex life, and Dell is flustered when his second patient refuses his services because she finds him attractive. Sam tries to convince Beth to meet with Violet as part of her treatment, but she refuses to relive her experience. Addison tells Maya that she does not have gonorrhea but needs to exercise more care in her sex life, though they are interrupted by Naomi. Nicole collapses during a meet and Pete finds that she has taken an unsafe herb prescribed by someone else, and Beth finally admits to Violet that she was physically assaulted during the break-in. Beth's husband John is shocked by the news, upset that he did not protect her. Cooper decides that he is "done" dealing with Violet's toxic relationship with Allan, and Pete is amused to learn that Addison is still having dreams about him. When Dell's third patient dismisses him as being too young, he finally stands up for himself and wins her over when he declares that he is a competent nurse.
Cooper advises Addison to "disengage" from the situation with Maya, but Maya then calls her and admits that her friend Ruby was the real patient and that she is now in distress from a dangerous pregnancy. Sam and Violet counsel Beth and John, reminding her that she survived her ordeal and that neither of them are at fault. Pete ends up punching Nicole's coach when he learns that he gave her the harmful herb, and Violet finally walks away from Allan for good when he reveals that he and his new, younger wife are trying for a baby. After learning that Ruby will recover, Maya swears to her mother, perhaps untruthfully, that she herself is not sexually active. Naomi chastises Addison for her secrecy, but Addison reminds her that she had a duty as a doctor. Sam and Naomi agree that they must do better as parents, and Cooper makes up with a saddened Violet. Pete admits that he has fantasies about Addison as well, and she gets an exciting new idea when she learns of his "cowboy" behavior with Nicole's coach. Includes commercials and promos.
