ALIAS: THERE'S ONLY ONE SYDNEY BRISTOW (TV)
Summary
One in this dramatic action series about CIA double agent Sydney Bristow and her adventures with her colleagues and her enemies. In this episode, Ehrmann summons Sloane and introduces him to the enigmatic Prophet 5 leaders, who inform him that he must perform one more task before they will give him Nadia's cure. As Peyton tracks down the imprisoned Anna Espinosa and offers her a chance to get revenge on her nemesis Sydney, and when Sloane demands that Sydney be left unhurt, the Prophet 5 leaders explain that she will merely be given an "incentive" to reenter the field. Sydney immediately ends her maternity leave upon learning that Anna has kidnapped Will Tippin, and she heads off to Moscow to rescue him, leaving baby Isabelle in the company of a pair of no-nonsense and highly trained fellow agents. Sydney and her team stake out a nightclub, where Anna is set meet Russian mobster Yerik Semanko in order to make an exchange for Will. When Sydney finds her friend, captive but unhurt, she is impressed when he helps her fight off Anna and escape onto a plane.
Will reveals that he is soon to be engaged and Sydney tells him about Isabelle, though she declines to add that Vaughn is secretly alive. Ehrmann calls Sloane and tells him to wait for an unknown "signal," and when Will visits Sydney's home to meet Isabelle, an alarm reveals that Anna placed a small bomb in Will's neck during his captivity. Anna calls and demands page 47 of the Rambaldi manuscript in exchange for the deactivation code, and the newer team members are mystified to learn that Prophet 5 and their associates believe Sydney to be the "chosen one," as described in the mysterious philosopher's manifesto. Will and Sydney impersonate an officious French couple as they travel to Lisbon on a train to meet Anna, and Sydney is touched when Will asks her to be his "best man" at his upcoming wedding – provided that they deactivate the bomb in time. Sydney finds Anna and hands over the manuscript page, but Anna activates the bomb anyway and Will panics upon hearing the beeping from within his own head.
Anna escapes with the manuscript and locks Sydney into one of the train cars, where she is showered with a strange red liquid. Will frees her and the two leap from the train just in time to deactivate the bomb for good, but Anna then contacts Peyton and reveals that Sydney's DNA has been collected via the liquid. Sloane later confronts Peyton for putting Sydney in harm's way despite his demands, but Peyton brushes aside his concerns and hands over the chemical that will apparently cure Nadia. Sydney apologizes to Will, feeling that she brings harm to her loved ones like a "plague," but he assures her that he values her friendship and her commitment to making the world a safer place. Back in Moscow, Anna is submerged in the red liquid – and emerges as a clone of Sydney. Includes commercials and promos.
