DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES: SUSPICIOUS MINDS (TV)

Summary

One in this darkly comedic soap opera about the denizens of Wisteria Lane, a suburban neighborhood with a seedy underbelly that is thrust to the forefront after the suicide of one titular housewife. In this episode, Gabrielle decides to assuage her guilt over her affair and Juanita's coma by throwing a charity fashion show with all of the neighborhood women as models. The neighbors wonder about Mrs. Huber's absence, unaware that Paul has placed her in a shallow grave. Julie reveals that she has been corresponding with Zach at the mental hospital, and Lynette, tired of her "normal" parenting routine, tells Tom that they must finally hire a nanny. Bree, still upset about Andrew's lack of remorse, tells Rex that they should force him to quit the swim team as punishment, and when John volunteers at the fashion show, Susan is startled to Gabrielle flirting with the teenager. She confronts her friend about the affair, furious that she would betray her husband after seeing the effect Karl's cheating had on her, Susan. Lynette decides to use her business-world tactics to "poach" a quality nanny from another mom, and when John tells Gabrielle that he has broken up with Danielle, she admits that Susan knows their secret. Bree is further outraged when she catches Andrew smoking pot, and as Paul attempts to clean up the murder scene, Dr. Sicher arrives and admits that Zach has escaped from the facility.

Helen overhears John's conversation with Justin about his "hot housewife" lover, and Zach is revealed to be hiding with Julie. Lynette searches the local park and meets Claire, a caring and attentive young nanny with a tough boss. Bree confronts Rex on the golf course and demands that he take action with Andrew, but Rex stands his ground and declares that she can no longer order him around, now that they are finally divorcing. Susan confronts John and points out that his relationship with Gabrielle is not sustainable, but he declares that he genuinely loves her, and Helen observes the conversation and draws the wrong conclusion. At the fashion show, Edie parades around in Mrs. Huber's severely altered dress and Helen furiously attacks Susan, demanding that she stay away from John. Gabrielle apologizes for the mix-up, but she hesitates when Susan demands that she fix the situation by coming clean to both Carlos and Helen. Lynette successfully convinces Claire to leave her rude boss and work for her instead, and Bree finds the marijuana in Andrew's school locker and decides to teach him a harsh lesson.

Julie produces the "Dana" blanket, and Zach tearfully confesses that after his mother's death, he began to recall a long-suppressed memory from his childhood in which he accidentally killed his baby sister, leading his parents to cover for him and forbid all mention of her name. Gabrielle finally tells Helen the truth, and Helen, realizing that John was a mere sixteen when the affair began, assures her that the matter is "not over." Paul demands to see Julie's letters from Zach, but Julie denies any knowledge of his escape and Susan defends her, believing that her daughter would not lie. Elsewhere, two detectives question a woodworker who created a distinctive wooden trunk, which was recently found in a lake with a woman's dismembered body inside. An "anonymous" call leads school officials to Andrew's locker, and Rex furiously scolds his son for his irresponsible behavior. Gabrielle panics and frantically apologizes to Carlos when police arrive at their door – but they instead arrest Carlos for a business-related crime, leaving Gabrielle devastated. Susan, seeing her friend's distress, decides to forgive their dispute. Includes commercials and promos.
