SOPRANOS, THE: LONG TERM PARKING (TV)

Summary

One in this darkly comic, dramatic series centering around the crime empire and family life of Tony Soprano, a modern-day Mafia boss.

In this episode, FBI agents Robyn Sanseverino and Dwight Harris watch footage of Adriana's strange behavior outside of the Crazy Horse, while elsewhere a stressed-out Adriana is diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. Tony tries to reconcile with Carmela, assuring her that his past "activities" will not continue; Little Carmine decides to step down as head of the Lupertazzi family in the aftermath of Billy and Angelo's murders. Tony sits down with Johnny Sack and the Lupertazzis, including an enraged Phil, all of whom demand that Tony deliver his absent cousin Tony Blundetto to face the music for his unauthorized murder of Billy. A group of young Sea Scouts find Gilbert Nieves' corpse on the beach, and over dinner, Carmela hints that she will allow Tony to move back home in exchange for $600,000 for construction of a new "spec house."

Christopher is outraged when Tony seems hesitant to turn his cousin over, ranting to Adriana that he himself has proved himself willing to "go to hell for" the uncle who openly disdains him. Tony awkwardly breaks up with a hospitalized Valentina, explaining that he is reuniting with Carmela; when Tony receives a wordless call from his cousin, he decides to put traps on his phone lines to track down his errant relative. He finally returns home and surprises Carmela with a "Her-mees" scarf, though A.J. is taken aback by his father's return; the feds grab Adriana and confront her with evidence of her involvement in Gilbert's murder. She explains that drug dealer Matush was the one to stab Gilbert at Crazy Horse after a transaction gone wrong and that she only assisted in covering up the crime out of a desire to protect Christopher and herself. Bureau Chief Frank Cubitoso informs her that she could face serious prison time for obstruction and, when she firmly refuses to wear a wire, advises her to secure herself a public defender. Agent Sanseverino tries to convince Adriana that she and Christopher could still have a future together away from the Sopranos if she assists them, and Adriana eventually agrees to try to "flip" Christopher against the uncle he hates. Chief Cubitoso, however, reminds Agent Sanseverino that they cannot protect Adriana if she does not agree to the wire.

Tony learns that Johnny is taking over for Little Carmine, and Christopher flies into a violent rage when Adriana confesses to working with the feds. Tony finally gets a call from his cousin, who apologizes for causing a mess with Billy's death. Tony surprises him by admitting to a long-ago mistake that led to his cousin's arrest. Though he implies that he is willing to let his cousin escape, he then traces the call and learns his location. Adriana eagerly tells Agent Sanseverino that Christopher has agreed to the relocation plan, but Tony then calls Adriana and explains that Christopher has been hospitalized after a suicide attempt. Silvio arrives to retrieve Adriana, but when he drives into a secluded forest, Adriana realizes too late that she has been tricked and makes a futile attempt to flee before Silvio ruthlessly shoots her dead. Christopher disposes of her belongings and stashes her car at the airport's long-term parking lot; elsewhere Tony meets with Johnny and requests to "handle" his cousin's death himself, though Johnny refuses and declares that Phil will kill him "his way." Back at the Bada Bing, Tony vents his rage on an intoxicated and grief-stricken Christopher. The feds panic upon realizing that Adriana has "fled," and Carmela shows a distracted Tony the wooded area in which she intends to build her spec house.
