GEORGE LOPEZ: DANCE FEVER (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series, set in Los Angeles, in which comedian George Lopez plays family man "George Lopez." In this episode, Benny and Randy excitedly plan their honeymoon and Jack summons all of the workers to announce that George has been honored with a Rising Star Award from a local minority business association. Everyone congratulates him, though Benny is characteristically unimpressed, and George tells a frustrated Angie that his mother is incapable of giving sincere compliments. Angie then announces that she has planned a surprise for him, though he is disappointed when it is rather less romantic than he had hoped.
Later, at the reception at Thirsty's, Jack and the workers officially toasts George's success, though Benny is distracted by Randy, who steals George's thunder by announcing that he has landed a new job and celebrating on the new dance-challenge arcade machine. Determined to have his moment, George challenges Randy to a dance-off and wins, loudly demanding to know if his mother is finally proud of him. Back at home, he confronts her about her blasé attitude and asks why she has never praised him for anything, and she finally admits that she is superstitious, believing that "the evil eye" will take revenge on those who boast. George is touched to realize that she is trying to protect him from harm, in her own strange and roundabout way. Later, he attempts to validate Max's accomplishments, only to find that they are few and far between. Includes commercials and promos.
