SIMPSONS, THE: THE SIMPSONS HALLOWEEN SPECIAL XIV: TREEHOUSE OF HORROR XIV {FIFTEENTH SEASON PREMIERE} (TV)
Summary
One in this animated comedy series about the Simpsons -- Homer and Marge, and their children, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie. This episode, the fourteenth annual Halloween special, features three scary stories.
In the first, "Reaper Madness," Homer accidentally "kills" the Grim Reaper when it arrives in search of Bart, temporarily rendering all of humanity unable to die. When Homer tries on Death's robe, he instantly becomes the new Reaper and begins enjoying the many perks of his new "job," including preferential seats at the sports arena. He is soon tasked with claiming Marge, however, and he very regretfully delivers her body to God, who then releases him from his role as Death. But God realizes too late that Homer has tricked him and has instead killed her annoying sister, Patty.
In "Frinkenstein," Professor Frink is overjoyed to learn that he has won the Nobel Prize, but admits to Lisa that he wishes to share his accomplishment with his late father, Professor John Frink Sr., a "he-man scientist" who was killed by a shark after denouncing his son's wimpy demeanor. Having preserved his body, however, Professor Frink decides to reanimate his dad – but when Frink Sr. awakens, he goes out in search of healthy new organs to replace his missing parts and quickly becomes a "marauding ghoul," killing many Springfield residents along the way. Lisa scolds him for not appreciating the professor's accomplishment, and Frink Sr. surprises his son in Stockholm as he accepts the Nobel – but he is then tempted by the many impressive brains in the room and begins attacking the guests. He dies "again" after falling off the stage, but Frink Jr. then reveals that he has trapped his father's essence in a "soul-catcher" so that they may be together forever.
Finally, in "Stop the World, I Want to Goof Off," Bart and Milhouse order a magic stopwatch from an old-timey comic book and realize that they have the power to stop and start time at will. They cause mischief all over Springfield before they are caught in the act by Mayor Quimby. When the angry townspeople chase the two boys, the watch is accidentally broken, leaving everyone except Bart and Milhouse permanently frozen in time. When the fun of being the only two people "left" in the world wanes, Bart and Milhouse decide to repair the watch. Fifteen years later, they set Martin up as a scapegoat and un-freeze time back to normal. Everyone is mildly confused by Bart's older appearance, and when Bart gives Lisa the repaired watch, she uses it to alter the family in a variety of odd ways. Commercials deleted.
