GEORGE LOPEZ: GEORGE VS. GEORGE (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series, set in Los Angeles, in which comedian George Lopez plays family man "George Lopez." In this episode, Carmen is accepted into an expensive private school and George and Angie head to the bank to acquire a loan to pay for her tuition. Once there, they are stunned to hear that George's accounts show multiple defaults and repossessions, and they conclude that his identity has been stolen. George attempts to resolve the matter over the phone and soon acquires the address linked to the charges, though when he confronts the thief, the man states that his name really is George Lopez. George orders him to produce his birth certificate to prove it, and when the man arrives at the plant with the document, they are confused to find that their birth certificates are exactly the same. Benny explains that George's is a copy and the other man's the original, admitting that George's father stole the original before disappearing, and George and Other George are stunned to realize that they are in fact half-brothers.
George brings his new sibling to family dinner and learns that the long-absent Manny is in Phoenix, though Benny is far more interested in hearing about Other George's mother. Later, George takes his new brother to the bar, reflecting that he is glad to finally have a sibling, though Other George explains that he too had a difficult, impoverished childhood thanks to Manny's poor parenting. He admits that he is currently behind on his rent, and George offers to help him, feeling that he is now family. Angie, however, returns to the bank and discovers that Other George actually attended college, contrary to his claims, and is in serious debt to the school. George confronts him, and he admits that Manny was not only a caring father but a wealthy one, and his personal money troubles are due only to his own irresponsibility. Upset at his lies, George kicks his half-brother out of his home, and when Manny unexpectedly telephones, having received the number from Other George, George refuses to speak to him. Later, Benny gets her petty revenge on her exasperated son. Includes commercials and promos.
