CHEERS: BAR WARS VI: THIS TIME IT'S FOR REAL (TV)

Summary

One in this comedy series about a group of regulars at a Boston bar.

Norm and Cliff see Senator John Kerry standing outside of Cheers and ask for his autograph, mistaking him for a local newscaster. Rebecca is selected by a local magazine as one of several businesswomen to receive a makeover and a feature in their next issue. Sam announces that Gary has sold the Olde Towne Tavern, and Sam is eager to start a rivalry with the new owner. To that end, he, Carla, Norm, and Cliff head over to vandalize the place by covering it in toilet paper. They are surprised when the other bar retaliates with a firebomb which sends the door to Cheers off its hinges. A policeman investigating the bombing informs Sam that the new owner of the Olde Towne Tavern is Frank “the Angel of Death” Carpaccio, an infamous mob boss. He advises them not to interfere in Frank’s business any further, lest he exact some more gruesome retaliation. Carla is gravely concerned about Frank’s presence, but Sam believes that the entire thing is an elaborate prank masterminded by Gary to once again get back at them. They decide to get back at Gary by going back over to the Tavern to “apologize” and set up a prank of their own.

Sam takes Carla, Woody, Norm, and Cliff over to the Tavern and they meet with Frank in person. Sam tells him about who they are and apologizes, and Frank appreciates their apology and accepts it. However, they use the opportunity to pull the fire alarm in the bar, setting off the sprinkler system and emptying the place. Frank swears vengeance on them as they exit, laughing the whole way. Two FBI agents show up at Cheers the next day asking for Sam, who believes that this is just another part of Gary’s prank. They proves that they are genuine and explain that Frank is a genuinely dangerous criminal, and that they should take his threats against them seriously. They ask Sam and company to testify as witnesses against Frank, a prospect they dread due to the lethal fate of previous witnesses against him. Rebecca is unconcerned with their plight, instead only interested in her makeover. The FBI relocates Sam and company to alternate sites pending the trial against Frank, but Sam refuses to abandon Cheers.

Carla, Woody, Norm, and Cliff are let off in the middle of a deserted expanse in North Dakota, waiting by a payphone for someone to pick them up. Sam calls them via the payphone and reveals that he was behind the whole incident with Frank as revenge for their prank against him last Halloween, when they convinced him that he had killed someone. Sam is in uproarious laughter about the whole thing in spite of the great expense he underwent to set it up. Commercial deleted.
