CHEERS: CRY HARDER {PART 2 OF 2} {EIGHTH SEASON FINALE} (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series about a group of regulars at a Boston bar.
Robin is indicted for insider trading, leading to an arrest. However, he shows up at Cheers with Rebecca, out on bail. Rebecca tells Robin that everything will be fine, but privately she is convinced that Robin will go to prison. She does not realize that Sam was the one who turned Robin in, and Sam does not tell her. Montgomery enters Cheers and offers to sell Sam his bar back for a single dollar as a reward for dealing with Robin. Everyone celebrates at Sam getting the bar back, but when Rebecca comes out she finds out that Sam turned Robin in and is furious at him.
Later, as Sam is closing up the bar, Rebecca comes out with her things, announcing that she is leaving Cheers for good. She claims that she forgives Sam for what he did, but is clearly still enraged at him, leaving him to his "crummy bar." Just before she can leave, a trio of FBI agents enter the bar asking about Robin. They reveal that Robin has fled the country, and a fax from Robin confirms that he is leaving Rebecca for good. Rebecca is devastated at Robin's departure, sitting down at a table to cry in despair. She stays there all night, and the following morning Sam tries to offer her comfort. However, Rebecca's situation worsens when she discovers that the corporation has fired her.
Sam offers Rebecca a job at Cheers as a waitress, but she mostly uses it as an opportunity to throw drinks in the customers' faces. Sam takes her into the office, where he tries to convince her to stop wallowing in her bitterness. They are both fed up with dealing with the fallout from Rebecca's various relationships, and Rebecca regrets all the decisions that led her to her present state. She says that she especially regrets standing by Robin, who ended up leaving her, as opposed to Sam, who has tried to help her every step of the way. Suddenly she starts kissing Sam; he tells her he doesn't want her to do anything that she'll regret, but the two of them end up in a passionate embrace. Later, Robin enters the bar, explaining that he returned to the United States for Rebecca, whom he's realized is the love of his life. The episode ends as Robin walks in and sees Rebecca and Sam together, much to his shock. Commercials deleted.
