CHEERS: FINALLY! {PART 1 OF 2} (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series about a group of regulars at a Boston bar.
Rebecca has been invited by Robin to a charity dinner in honor of former Boston Red Sox star Carl Yastrzemski, and she is excited to have Robin to herself for once. Robin calls and asks to speak to Sam, inviting him along to the dinner as well in order to improve his knowledge of baseball. Rebecca is highly upset by this, as it ruins her alone-time with Robin, but Sam vows to stay out of her way. Sam uses the invitation as a means of getting a woman at the bar, Laura, to go out with him and accompany him to the dinner. That night Laura leaves Sam after waiting a few hours at the bar for Robin to arrive. Robin’s tardiness puts Rebecca on edge. Finally Robin arrives and Sam and Rebecca leave with him; Sam is spurred by a hefty “consultation fee” Robin promises him to educate him on baseball.
During the limousine ride to the dinner Rebecca becomes further agitated by Sam and Robin reviewing baseball terminology. She argues with Robin before they passionately kiss. Sam jokingly suggests that he should leave, but Robin takes him seriously and has the driver let him off near the railroad tracks before driving away. Sam comes in to Cheers the next morning angry and suffering from a cold. Rebecca enters, and Sam believes that she and Robin slept together, inciting rejoicing from the rest of the bar. They ply her for details, and she tells them about her evening. However, Sam believes that Robin views Rebecca as nothing more than a “conquest,” and will now move on and leave her behind. However, Robin sends Bill Medley of the Righteous Brothers to the bar to sing her favorite song, seemingly disproving Sam’s point.
Rebecca returns from another date with Robin on his boat, announcing that Robin has declared his love for her. She is immensely happy and takes the other guys out to celebrate. Sam declines the invitation; he’s disappointed that he lost his chance with her. However, he says he’s happy for her, and decides to come along after all. After dinner Sam sees Robin kissing another woman while Rebecca is in the bathroom, much to his displeasure. Commercials deleted.
