CHEERS: REBECCA'S LOVER . . . NOT! (TV)

Summary

One in this comedy series about a group of regulars at a Boston bar.

Carla gives Woody a wedding ring to give to Kelly, although it is likely stolen. Later Kelly arrives at Cheers to spend time with Cliff and Norm, hoping to get to know Woody’s friends before they get married. Rebecca gets a call from her high school boyfriend Mark, whom she has not seen since graduation. She plans to meet with him and reminisces about her relationship with him. Sam’s car gets stolen, putting him in a state of depression. Mark arrives and is greeted by Rebecca, who is excited to see him. Sam discovers that Mark is gay, although Rebecca is unaware of this. Lilith recommends that Sam find other victims of car theft so he can talk about his anger, and he happens to find one at the bar next to him. Although it is obvious to everyone else, Rebecca does not realize that Mark is gay and believes that they would be a perfect couple.

Sam forms a victim support group for other men who have had their automobiles stolen. Rebecca goes out on a date with Mark, and no one has the courage to tell her the truth about him. Lilith tries to tell Rebecca but Carla prevents her, finding amusement in her misconception. Sam’s support group becomes quite emotional, but he abandons them when he discovers that the police have found his stolen car. Rebecca and Mark go back to his apartment after their date and Rebecca tries to become more intimate with him. Mark tells her that he is gay and she feels extremely embarrassed. He confesses that she is the only woman he was ever attracted to, and they rekindle their friendship. Commercials deleted.
