DAILY SHOW WITH JON STEWART, THE {JEFF BRIDGES} (TV)

Summary

One in this series of nightly comedy shows which take a skewered look at current events and feature field stories about any topic. This program, hosted by Jon Stewart, is broken down into different segments and features actor Jeff Bridges.

In the first segment, "America Freaks Out," Stewart discusses many airlines' financial problems in the wake of the 9/11 attacks; a spate of strangely tasteless "parody songs" relating to the attacks and the war; and the infamous "anthrax letters" sent to several politicians and news organizers, with less-than-helpful commentary from "graphologist" Mo Rocca about the identity of the sender.

Next, Bridges sits down with Stewart and chats about his role as a psychiatrist in the new film "K-PAX" (2001); whether or not the main character, played by Kevin Spacey, is in fact a space alien, as he claims; comparisons to Bridges' own sci-fi film "Starman" (1984); and filming at the Hayden Planetarium in New York City, which features imagery of the entirely observable universe.

Next, correspondents Steve Carell and Nancy Walls present the "We Love Showbiz" segment, touching upon the postponement of the Primetime Emmy Awards show; the release of moronic mobster comedy "Corky Romano" (2001); and Carell's "interview" with 'NSYNC star and "On the Line" (2001) actor Lance Bass. Commercials deleted.
