FRANK'S PLACE: THE KING OF WALL STREET {SERIES FINALE} (TV)
Summary
The series finale in this comedy-drama series about Frank Parrish, a Brown University professor who moves to New Orleans when he inherits his father's restaurant, Chez Louisiane. In this episode, some corporate "big shots" from New York City arrive at the restaurant for a meal, though Gregory makes his dislike of the Big Apple plain to them. Frank politely explains that the kitchen is currently closed, and he is stunned when one of the men casually offers $500 for a hot meal and quickly calls Shorty to come in and cook a "masterpiece." Dick then receives an alarming phone call from New York and hesitantly tells the boss, Mitch, that his two partners have "conspired" against him and have sold the company out from under him. Stunned, Mitch declares that his career is over, while in the kitchen Shorty panics at the idea of cooking without Big Arthur. Mitch urges his employees to go home without him, and they leave behind a big tip, arousing the attention of Reverend Deal.
Mitch remains in the restaurant and orders a simple grilled cheese, and Frank and Shorty are irked at his attitude of wealthy entitlement. Deal strikes up a conversation with Mitch, though Mitch soon realizes that he is "nuts," and Mitch experiences an existential crisis of sorts as he realizes that he has made millions but contributed little to the world, unlike his own humble, working-class father, who genuinely enjoyed his work. He muses that one of his traitorous partners is having an affair with his secretary and then decides to fight back against their coup after all, and he recruits Frank and the others' help as he makes a series of strategic phone calls, turning on partner against the other and hinting that he has incriminating information on them. Pleased with his success, he departs for New York City and takes an excited Deal along with him, and the Chez Louisiane staff reflects on the night's bizarre events before closing up for the evening. Commercials deleted.
