WONDERFUL WORLD OF DISNEY, THE: LIZZIE MCGUIRE: AARON CARTER'S COMING TO TOWN / EVEN STEVENS: STARSTRUCK (TV)

Summary

One of this series of Disney movies presented under the umbrella title "The Wonderful World of Disney." This asset contains two programs, the first of which is an episode of "Lizzie McGuire," the family series about the adventures of Lizzie McGuire, a junior high school student who negotiates the daily trials of the modern teenager with help from her friends and family; Lizzie's animated alter-ego voices her inner thoughts. In this episode, Lizzie and Miranda are elated to learn that teen pop sensation Aaron Carter is set to shoot a holiday-themed music video in their town. Budding filmmaker Gordo, though apathetic about the star, ponders making a behind-the-scenes documentary on the set, and the trio tries to figure out where the shoot will be. Matt reveals that he knows the location and demands to come along, and the four of them sneak out of the house early in the morning, unaware that Sam has actually acquired backstage passes through his job. Lizzie tries to use her middle-school "press pass" to breeze onto the set, but is stopped by the strict security guard, and their attempt to enter dressed as elves for the video also fails, though a bewigged Matt is allowed in as Aaron's "stand-in."

Lizzie is then shocked when her father appears on set, assuming that he has been called because of her troublemaking. Back at home, Jo hears a phone message about the kids' antics, while back on the set the three friends find themselves onstage and frantically run from the guard again. When they are caught in Aaron's dressing room, Lizzie convinces his no-nonsense manager to allow just one of them to meet the star, and she kindly urges Miranda, an aspiring singer, to take the opportunity. Jo and Sam find themselves in "jail" after causing trouble of their own on the set, and when Lizzie goes to retrieve her tape recorder from Aaron's dressing room, she receives a "holiday" kiss from the man himself. The guard attempts to throw them out again, but the director, having noticed their hijinks, unexpectedly hires the friends as "stunt elves," and they end up participating in the video for Aaron's cover of "I Want Candy" after all.

The second program is the second season premiere of "Even Stevens," the comedy series about the misadventures of teenager Louis Stevens, who lives in the shadow of his overachieving family. In this episode, Ruby develops a serious obsession with British boy-band BBMak, determined to win a radio contest to attend their local recording session. Elsewhere, Louis finds a "lucky penny" and begins to have uncommonly good fortune, much to Alan and Tawny's surprise. Nelson and Ren are forced to stage an "intervention" for Ruby, gently reminding her that she is unlikely to ever wed any of the BBMak members and suggesting that she set her sights on someone more attainable. Ruby thanks them for their good sense, but Ren is then alarmed to see that her friend has transferred her affections to none other than Louis.

Louis begins to grow complacent about his good luck as he wins the BBMak contest, and Ren shows Ruby her brother's extremely slovenly bedroom in an attempt to dissuade her, though Ruby is unmoved. Louis brings Tawny, Alan, Ren and Ruby along to the recording session to meet the band, and the guys are impressed by Louis' authentic "Sacramento sound" and invite him to play on their song on the tambourine. Tawny urges Ruby to tell Louis of her feelings for him, but Ruby, watching Louis' bizarre dancing, decides that he is "odd and annoying" after all. The band members quickly change their mind about his musical stylings, and Louis is horrified to realize that the lucky penny is gone and he is back to his usual hapless life. Later, the friends jam out to Alan's original song, "Sacramento Girl." Includes commercials and promos.
