TAXI: FANTASY BOROUGH {PART 2 OF 2} {SECOND SEASON FINALE} (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series about the employees of a New York City cab company. In the second half of this two-part episode, the garage employees continue talking about their encounter with TV star Herve Villechaize, thinking he has a glamorous life in Hollywood, though Louie assures them that Tinseltown is filled with "perverts and weirdos." When they ask Alex about his wild fantasy, he says he does not have one, but at their encouragement he crafts a scenario in which he picks up a gorgeous blonde in his cab. She takes a liking to him, but soon reveals that she is married. At the others' urging, however, he revises the scene and imagines her single, and he asks her out for a drink. She agrees, and though they are nearly killed in a crash, they end up back at Alex's apartment, where she tells him her name is Tawny. He worries that things are "too good," but they soon begin to get cozy, only for Tawny to reveal that she has an uncle named Alex, at which point Alex realizes they are already far too well acquainted.
Louie denies having a fantasy of his own, but then imagines a scene in which the entire city is plunged into a depression, leaving him the only wealthy man. He visits his ill and impoverished garage workers before returning to his mansion, where he lives with Elaine, and he is forced to fire Lassie, saying that his other canine employees are making more money and the famous Collie is not pulling her weight. Finally, the group turns to Elaine, and in her fantasy, a boring afternoon at the garage turns into a spectacular show when Elaine bursts into song, singing "Lullaby of Broadway" from "Gold Diggers of 1935," complete with costumes and an elaborate dance number involving the whole gang. Commercials deleted.
