FRASIER: THE INNKEEPERS (TV)

Summary

One in this comedy series about Frasier Crane, a divorced psychiatrist who lives in Seattle and hosts a phone-in radio show. In this episode, Frasier is disappointed to learn from snooty restaurant critic Gil Chesterson that Orsini's, one of his former favorite dining establishments, is set to close. He, Niles, Martin and Daphne decide to have one last farewell dinner, though they find that the restaurant – and addled head waiter Otto – have indeed fallen into poor condition. Niles and Frasier then get the idea to buy the place themselves, feeling that they are sufficiently knowledgeable about matters of food and classy presentation, and they ignore Martin's protests that running a restaurant is very hard work indeed.

"Les frères heureux" proves to be "a palpable hit" on opening night, though Frasier and Niles are annoyed when Bulldog shows up sans reservation. Everything starts to go south when the brothers accidentally knock out their waiter and annoy head chef Maurice into quitting, however, and they are forced to recruit Martin, Daphne and a resentful Roz to fill in as staff members. Matters grow worse when Gil arrives with a pack of his critic friends, and as the team frantically tries to prepare Orsini's signature eel dish, Roz ends up setting off the sprinklers with her failed dessert, and Otto – serving as valet – creates a "drive-through" right in the dining-room wall. All of the guests flee and Gil happily prepares to write a terrible review, and Martin cannot resist teasing his sons about their latest foolhardy failure. Commercials deleted.
