Summary

n this episode, Rhoda announces that her parents have come for a visit, and Mary eagerly greets Martin and Ida Morgenstern for the first time. Ida confides to Rhoda that her marriage is "on the rocks," possibly thanks to Martin's attractive young secretary, though Rhoda refuses to accept the bad news. Later, she brings her parents to Mary's newsroom, though Lou is characteristically less than charmed by Ida's small talk. Later, Ida arrives at Mary's late at night and announces that she has left Martin over his "sordid affairs"; an uncomfortable Mary attempts to extract herself from the awkward family conflict.
Ida stays with Rhoda overnight, though she tries to "hide out" at Mary's when Martin announces that he is coming over. She hides in the bathroom rather than confront him, and Martin complains that she has grown overly "touchy" and swears that he has never cheated. The squabbling couple finally talks, and he declares that his love for her is as strong as ever, despite their long marriage. Ida is satisfied and they decide to renew their "lease" at the local synagogue. Mary hurriedly invites her co-workers for a quickie wedding reception. At the end of the party, Ida is annoyed when the wrong single gal catches the bouquet. Commercials deleted.
