LAVERNE & SHIRLEY: THE PLAYBOY SHOW (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series about two young working women, following their humorous adventures from the 1950s through the 1960s.
In this episode, Rhonda asks Laverne to get her an application at the Playboy Club. She also suggests that Laverne apply, too. At the club, Laverne looks askance at “Bunny Mother” Hillary before running into applicant Cathy, who says Laverne would make a great bunny. Later, Laverne hears from Hillary that she’s made it to “bunny training.” Frank, who’s become depressed by working at Cowboy Bill’s, disapproves of Laverne becoming a bunny. Laverne goes ahead with training regardless. There, Hillary introduces Squiggy, who’ll perform in exercises with the candidates as “the rude customer.” Cathy is put off by Squiggy’s antics, but he can’t bring himself to be vulgar with Laverne. All candidates are then told that they’ll perform in a “dress rehearsal” with Hugh Hefner.
Ultimately, there’s one bunny position left, with Hugh having to choose between Laverne and Cathy. Both girls make mistakes in front of Hugh. But when Laverne uses her bunny tail to mop up a spill, he chooses Cathy. Cathy then tells Hugh that he should hire Laverne, with Laverne making a recommendation for Cathy. As Hugh goes back and forth between the gals, Laverne forces Cathy show off her singing talent with a rendition of “My Guy.” Accordingly, Hugh opts for Cathy, but takes Laverne to dinner. Back at her apartment, Laverne convinces Frank to lick his depression by making pizza at Cowboy Bill’s. Commercials deleted.
