LAVERNE & SHIRLEY: THE RIGHT TO LIGHT (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series about two young working women, following their humorous adventures from the 1950s through the 1960s.
In this episode, Laverne and Shirley begrudgingly give Lenny and Squiggy dancing lessons in their living room. All are shocked when the lights go out. The next day, the girls seek an explanation at Milwaukee Gas & Electric. There, the unsympathetic clerk says that their check was never received, resulting in their apartment's power outage. Shirley's claims to have sent the check fall on deaf ears, inspiring her to form a plan.
As the girls hatch a plot in the ladies room, the clerk goes to lunch. Meanwhile, a disgruntled customer enters the office and plants a bomb. Later, Carmine joins Laverne and Shirley in the office with chains and a padlock. Following Shirley's orders, he chains them to a wall to protest the clerk's actions.
After Carmine leaves with the key to the padlock, the girls discover the bomb -- with five minutes left on its timer. Unable to defuse it or call for help, Laverne manages to unlock the office safe and Shirley throws the bomb inside and slams the safe's door shut. The bomb explodes and the girls survive unscathed. That night, they write in their diaries about how the bomber was caught by police, and the utility company ruled in their favor. However, Laverne maintains that they should have simply paid the clerk. Commercials deleted.
