LAVERNE & SHIRLEY: THE BACHELOR PARTY (TV)

Summary

One in this comedy series about two young working women, following their humorous adventures from the 1950s through the 1960s.

In this episode, Laverne is called to the brewery’s administrative office, where she is informed that her ninety-four-year-old uncle from Long Island has died. With Frank having to go to his brother’s funeral, Laverne is left to monitor the Pizza Bowl. The Fonz drops by the alley, needing to throw an after-hours bachelor party for one of his friends. Laverne thinks the extra money will convince Frank of her business prowess. However, Shirley thinks the idea should be nixed, stating that she doesn’t approve of what goes on at bachelor parties. Laverne still agrees to Fonz’s plan, even though Milo, the guest of honor, has just gotten paroled.

When the Pizza Bowl staff refuses to work overtime, Laverne asks Carmine what she can do to convince Shirley to assist her. Back at the apartment, Laverne brings Shirley a pizza pie to win her over. Though Shirley can’t believe that Laverne tried to bribe her, she gives in when Laverne starts to cry. After the raucous party gets under way, Laverne and Shirley struggle to manage the rambunctious guests, even running out of pizza. Worse, Fonz reveals to Laverne that his stripper for the evening has canceled. He says that his friends will become unruly if he doesn’t find a new girl to jump out of the cake.

With no other choice, Laverne thinks she is forced to pop out of the novelty cake. However, only Shirley can fit into the costume. After Laverne’s desperate request to avoid having a riot, Shirley finally agrees. With much trepidation, Shirley slowly pops out to the roaring men's applause. Carmine intercedes and covers Shirley up with a tablecloth, angering the guests. Fonz is forced to stop the “classless” men from jeering Carmine, then distracts them with a stag film. Afterward, Laverne tells Shirley that she has the best friend in the world. Finally, Frank returns and congratulates Laverne on “a bang-up job.” Includes commercials.
