NORM {A.K.A. THE NORM SHOW}: NORM VS. HALLOWEEN (TV)

Summary

One in this comedy series about a former professional hockey player who is employed as a social worker in order to meet the terms of his court-appointed community service.

In this episode, Norm chats with a group of kids and learns that their neighborhood is too dangerous for trick-or-treating, so he promises to take them out to a rich part of town for top-drawer candy. He flirts with an annoyed Shelly as Laurie complains about yet another bad date. Danny, though pretending to be happy with Debbie, continues obsessing over Taylor. The women eagerly head down to another floor of the building upon learning that several fireman have arrived for a safety lesson. Norm resolves to dress as a fireman on Halloween to win Shelly over at the parole officers' beer bash. He then remembers his promise to the kids, however, and realizes that he must make time for both events in one evening.

At the party, Laurie dresses as her own "dream man," and Shelly, costumed as Catwoman, realizes that Danny has tricked Debbie into dressing like Taylor. They are all stunned when stodgy Max Denby arrives as Gene Simmons, and Laurie is uncertain when she hits it off with an androgynously attractive nurse. Firefighter Norm and the kids are offended to find that the rich tenants of a certain building have decided not to hand out candy to unknown children, not wanting to attract "that element." To retaliate, Norm pulls the fire alarm and urges the children to help themselves. Back at the party, Danny is disturbed to find that he closely resembles Debbie's ex. When "Fireman Norm" finally arrives, Shelly admits that she appreciates his attire. Laurie's evening falls flat when she and the nurse prove incompatible, and Norm is annoyed when Shelly instead heads off with a real fireman, who arrives thanks to "Gene Simmons'" irresponsible behavior in the bathroom. Norm, Laurie, and Danny bond over their disappointing evening, and Max is frustrated when he loses the costume contest to a "hammy" co-worker. Includes commercials and promos.
