JOHNNY BRAVO: I FLY / SHNOOK OF THE NORTH / CHARM SCHOOL JOHNNY (TV)
Summary
One in this animated series about Johnny Bravo, a blonde imbecile who takes pride in his hair and picking up women.
Part one, “I Fly,” is a parody of the classic science-fiction film “The Fly.” While vacuuming his lawn, Johnny is asked by Carl to keep his science project in his garage. After Carl leaves, Johnny inspects the project, a teleportation device. Johnny enters and activates it just as a fly enters the chamber, exchanging Johnny’s head with that of the fly’s. Johnny leaves to find Carl to reverse the process while the fly-headed Johnny is taken inside by his mother, who does not notice any difference.
Johnny is battered around in his fly body while trying to find Carl. Mama mistakes the fly-headed Johnny’s condition for an illness and sends him to bed. Johnny ends up in Pop’s Diner, where he finds Carl. However, he is distracted by a slice of pie and gets into a fight with another fly, during which Carl gets away. When Carl checks on his teleporters, he sees they have been tampered with and assumes that spies are responsible. Johnny goes to Carl’s house to wait for him, but gets himself captured by a spider. Carl finds him there and rescues him. He lures the fly-headed Johnny back to the teleporter, but the three of them wind up in the teleporter and are all transformed into hideous monsters.
Part two, “Shnook of the North,” begins at the mall, where Johnny is helping his mother shop. They get separated and Johnny ends up at the mall security office. He cannot remember how to reach his home, so he is sent to family court, where he is placed in a foster home in the arctic. He has difficulty adjusting to his new lifestyle.
Meanwhile, his mother laments her loss when she is assigned what child services believe is her son, but is actually a pint-sized gangster named Mugsy. She takes him in anyway. Slowly Johnny becomes more accustomed to the arctic lifestyle, but he receives a vision of his mother asking him to return home. He journeys back and kicks Mugsy out. Both Johnny and his mother are overjoyed that everything is back to normal…mostly.
Part three, “Charm School Johnny,” begins as Johnny unsuccessfully attempts to hit on a woman eating at Pop’s Diner. She is appalled by his uncouth behavior and calls him “no gentleman.” Pops explains to Johnny what a “gentleman” is and makes a bet with Carl that he can transform Johnny into a gentleman in a week. Pops instructs Johnny on proper etiquette using Carl in a dress as a “practice lady.” After a week Johnny appears to have made some progress. Pops takes Johnny to a fancy party in order to test him. He tries to introduce him to an important duchess, but Johnny mistakes her for Carl in his dress and tosses her into a nearby punch bowl; Pops has lost his bet. Commercials deleted.
