SPIN CITY: THE COMMITMENTS (TV)

Summary

One in this comedy series about the Deputy Mayor of New York City and his co-workers at City Hall as they deal with problems both professional and personal. Caitlin returns from Paris after Mike convinces her to call off her wedding, and soon the entire office knows about it. As Mike and Caitlin resume their relationship, Caitlin becomes concerned that Mike is only interested in her sexually. Mike decides to prove her wrong by abstaining from sex for a week. Meanwhile, the mayor is called upon to shoot a promo for the ASPCA to apologize for harming a prize-winning dog. Carter gives the mayor Rags to use in the promo, and soon asks the mayor to carry Rags around with him for a week. Soon the mayor grows quite attached to Rags. Over the course of the next week, Caitlin makes constant attempts to seduce Mike and get him to break his promise, but Mike refuses at every turn. Mike attempts to alleviate his pent-up frustration with handiwork, and some of the staff try to convince him to "release some pressure." Carter finds that the mayor has gotten so attached to Rags that he wants to keep him. James tricks Mike into heading into the office boiler room, where Caitlin is waiting and locks him in. She attempts to seduce him again dressed as a janitor, this time living out Mike's "boiler room fantasy." However, her efforts do not succeed and Mike restrains himself until midnight. Having kept his promise for the entire week, he and Caitlin prepare to have sex, but Mike's comments indicate that he doubts that Caitlin has the same level of self-restraint. As retaliation, Caitlin decides to leave and refrain from having sex for two weeks, much to Mike's frustration. The episode ends as the mayor bids a heartfelt goodbye to Rags. Includes commercials.
