DHARMA & GREG {DHARMA AND GREG}: THANKSGIVING UNTIL IT HURTS (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series about two unlikely San Francisco soulmates: Dharma, a yoga instructor who was raised by hippies, and her husband Greg, an assistant U.S. attorney for the Justice Department.
In this episode, a year after a particularly disastrous holiday celebration with their mismatched relatives, Dharma and Greg decide not to host Thanksgiving dinner and break the news to their parents over dinner at a restaurant, hoping to avoid a scene. Their relatives are taken aback, feeling that the previous year went relatively well; they soon descend into their usual arguing. Later, Abby brings Dharma a pumpkin with which she can make her usual pie. Greg, feeling guilty, suggests that they should at least stop by Dharma's parents' house on the holiday. Later, the Montgomery's maid Celia invites Dharma and Greg to her own celebration, explaining that her relatives have long considered Greg to be family. He agrees, much to Edward's indignation. Realizing that they must make time to see all of their friends and relatives after all, Dharma and Greg carefully plot out the day's schedule and then eat a big breakfast, sure that they will not actually receive any proper dinner.
However, Pete and Jane provide them with a surprisingly sumptuous dinner, courtesy of one of Pete's criminal clients; they end up eating a full meal. At Dharma's parents' house, they find a tearful Abby breaking her "militant vegetarian" policy and cooking a turkey just for the two of them, sure that they canceled the dinner because of her dietary restrictions. They are forced to eat an entire second dinner to protect her feelings. Matters grow worse when they volunteer at a shelter and are invited to eat yet again by a sweet elderly woman who mistakes them for her children. Upon arriving at the Montgomerys' house, they find that Kitty has cooked, for once, though very badly. Finally, they make it to Celia's and admit that they are far too full to eat again, though Celia tells them that she is glad to have them anyway. Her family soon begins arguing amongst themselves, however, and Dharma and Greg wonder if they are in fact the source of the problem. Includes commercials and promos.
