BRADY BUNCH VARIETY HOUR, THE {MILTON BERLE, TINA TURNER} (TV)

Summary

One in this comedy/variety show series featuring the characters from the television comedy "The Brady Bunch." This episode opens with a cast performance of "Hooray for Hollywood," as the Krofftette Dancers and Water Follies offer an accompanying water ballet. After the song, the cast cracks jokes and share thoughts about the evening’s guests: comedian Milton Berle and singer Tina Turner. Next, Carol, Mike, Greg, Marsha, and Peter perform "Make 'Em Laugh," dressed as clowns. Afterward, Jack joins Alice onstage, and they attempt to crack each other up before delivering their own version of “Make ‘Em Laugh.” Next, Peter explains that no one wants to introduce his singing performance. Collette the Puppette approaches the teenager and offers some encouragement as they perform "Sing." In the next segment, Bobby tries to define what’s funny by putting a pie in his face. A skit follows as Bobby debates the concept of humor with Mike, Carol, and Alice. After hearing a message from “Uncle Miltie” over the CB radio, Bobby and Jack engage in more banter. A subsequent skit involves Milton arriving at the Brady home as Bobby and his siblings explain to Mike and Carol how to make the family’s show funnier. Milton then introduces his concept for “The Brady Bunch Hour,” with Mike dressed as Carmen Miranda and Carol in drag as Charlie Chaplin. The multi-costumed kids then perform Milton’s brand of comedy via a series of vaudevillian routines. Next, Greg and Peter spar before introducing Tina Turner to sing "Rubber Band Man" as the Krofftette Dancers and Water Follies perform a water ballet. In another skit, Mike tells Bobby that he must fire Milton as the show’s director of comedy, a decision that raises the veteran comic’s ire. Next, Carol sings “Evergreen.” Peter introduces the finale as the guests and cast perform "Catch a Falling Star,” “You Don’t Have to Be a Star (To Be in My Show),” “You Are My Lucky Star,” “Everybody Is a Star,” “Don’t Let the Stars Get in Your Eyes,” “Good Morning Starshine," and “Shining Star.” After thanking the guests, the family sings “United We Stand.” Commercials deleted.
