TWILIGHT ZONE, THE: STOPOVER IN A QUIET TOWN (TV)
Summary
One in this science fiction/fantasy anthology series hosted by Rod Serling.
Bob and Millie Frazer, a young married couple, awaken in a strange house the night after a party. Both of them had are hung over, and Millie remembers their car being “enveloped” by something on the way home, but can’t remember what happened afterwards. As they look around the house, they notice many oddities; the telephone isn’t plugged in, the food in the refrigerator is all fake, and no one else is around. The only sound they hear is that of the laughter of a little girl, seemingly emanating from nowhere.
They step outside and survey the neighborhood; there isn’t a soul around. They find many other strange things: a stuffed squirrel perched in a tree, an empty church, fake trees and grass, a car without an engine with a mannequin inside, etc. Eventually they find a train and hop aboard, happy to be leaving the strange deserted town. However, their happiness is short-lived: when they look outside, they find themselves pulling into the same town. They make one final attempt to leave the town, but suddenly a gigantic hand snatches them both up, and they find themselves in the clutches of a young girl the size of a mountain. It turns out that Bob and Millie were abducted by gigantic aliens and have been put into a colossal dollhouse for the girl to play with. Commercials deleted.
