SEINFELD: THE BIZARRO JERRY (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series set in New York City in which comedian Jerry Seinfeld plays himself. Humorous situations in his personal life are interspersed with brief stand-up comedy routines. In this episode, Jerry and George chat about alien abductions, and then take Kramer to "the best bathroom in midtown" inside an office building. While there, George spots a comely receptionist, Amanda, and Jerry advises him to tell the sad story of his fiancée's death to gain her sympathy. Kramer finds himself mistaken for an employee and dragged into a meeting, and he goes along with it. Elaine tells Kevin she just wants to be "friends," to which he agrees, and then shows Jerry a picture of Gillian, saying she wants to set them up. George gets the idea to pretend that the photo is of his beautiful late fiancée in order to make the receptionist think he was engaged to "one of her own." To his delight, the plan works and he successfully asks her out. Jerry meets Gillian and is disturbed by her "man-hands," much to Elaine's exasperation. Meanwhile, Kramer continues "working" at the office, telling Jerry he is happy to have the structure, despite not getting paid.
Jerry forgets to pick up Elaine for an appointment and she is forced to call her "friend" Kevin. She chides Jerry for being inconsiderate, telling him that Kevin is unfailingly polite, and Jerry notes that Kevin is "Bizarro Jerry," an opposite version of him. George goes out with Amanda to a glamorous nightclub in the Meatpacking District and meets her friends, all former models, and happily reports back to Jerry, though he is reluctant to let Jerry tag along. Jerry goes out with Gillian and tries not to be distracted by her large hands, and Elaine meets up with Kevin's friends and notices their strangely specific contrast to Jerry's group. She begins to spend more time with them, telling Jerry she appreciates their avoidance of discussing "excruciating minutia," and he becomes frustrated by the change, especially when Kramer begins spending long hours at the office. Jerry finally decides to stop seeing Gillian, but George accidentally destroys the photo of "his fiancée" and desperately tries to find another one to continue the charade. Elaine realizes that Kevin's courteous friends are indeed the "bizarro" opposite of her usual group and abandons Jerry and the others to hang out with them, but soon discovers that their formal, mature ways do not suit her. Kramer gets into hot water with his "boss," who has notices his complete lack of business knowledge, and George's attempts to flirt with models at the nightclub fall flat without the photo. When he attempts to bring Jerry to the club, it is no longer there, leading him to wonder if he imagined the whole magical event. At Kevin's home, he and the others discuss their good deeds for the day, and Kevin notes what reliable, kind friends he has. Commercials deleted.
