SEINFELD: THE IMPLANTS (TV)

Summary

One in this comedy series set in New York City in which comedian Jerry Seinfeld plays himself. Humorous situations in his personal life are interspersed with brief stand-up comedy routines.

In this episode, Jerry is alarmed when Elaine goes to the gym and glances at his latest love interest, the attractive Sidra, and assures him that "they're fake." Elsewhere, George attempts to finally make his move on Betsy, but she is distracted yet again, this time by a family tragedy. Elaine observes Sidra in the sauna and later assures Jerry that she's right; meanwhile, Kramer declares that he has spotted controversial novelist Salman Rushdie at the same gym. George's friends urge him to secure his position as Betsy's official boyfriend by being "consolation guy" at her aunt's funeral, which is in Detroit. Kramer offers to help him land a bereavement discount at the airport.

Back in the sauna, Elaine overhears Sidra complaining to her friend about her recent date's abrupt cancellation. When Elaine accidentally falls against Sidra while introducing herself, she is forced to retract her suspicion about the implants, leading Jerry to realize that he broke up with her for nothing. George is frustrated to learn that he will receive a 50 percent refund on the airline ticket only after producing a death certificate, and Kramer tries to trick "Sal Bass" into revealing his "true" identity.

At the funeral, George manages to win over Betsy's family with his concerned-boyfriend act – until he antagonizes her brother Timmy by "double-dipping" at the snack table. Jerry quickly arranges a second date with Sidra, but Kramer barges in and inadvertently reveals that Jerry and Elaine used to date. Sidra, guessing that Jerry intentionally enlisted his ex to inspect her body, informs him that "they're real and they're spectacular" before storming out. Finally, George fails to obtain the death certificate, and his tactless coffin-side photo isn't sufficient to score the discount. Commercials deleted.
