JEOPARDY!: CELEBRITY JEOPARDY {STEPHEN KING, LYNN REDGRAVE, DAVID DUCHOVNY} (TV)
Summary
One in this series of game/quiz programs, hosted by Alex Trebek, in which contestants are given answers and must reply with the corresponding questions. In this special celebrity episode, the contestants are "The X-Files" actor David Duchovny, actress Lynn Redgrave and author Stephen King.
Redgrave struggles in the first segment and heads into the first break with -$200, with Duchovny at $1,400 and King at $1,200. King wagers $1,000 on the first Daily Double and correctly answers a Biblical question, and Redgrave's annoyance mounts as she remains stuck at -$100 with Duchovny ahead at $2,700 and King at $2,300 at the end of the first round. Trebek takes a break to chat with the contestants, inquiring about Fox Mulder's network-appropriate name, and Duchovny states that he is playing for the Children's Defense League. Redgrave explains that she is playing for two groups, Edwin Booth's Place and The Preservation Association for Tudor Hall. King, who agrees that his writing style has changed over the years, is playing for the Bangor Public Library in his beloved home state of Maine.
In the second round, Duchovny does exceptionally well in a sports-themed category. King wins the first Daily Double when he risks $2,000 on a question about U.S. presidents, and Duchovny wins the second with a $2,000 wager on general science. At the end of the round, Redgrave has recovered with $3,500, King with $5,700 and Duchovny in the lead with $9,900. The Final Jeopardy questions pertains to "Business and Literature," and Redgrave is left with nothing when she wagers her entire sum on an incorrect answer. King also bets everything, though gets the right answer and wins with $11,400. Duchovny is incorrect, leaving him with $900. Redgrave and Duchovny are awarded an automatic $10,000 for their respective charities. Commercials deleted.
