TAXI: ARNIE MEETS THE KIDS (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series about the employees of a New York City cab company. In this episode, Simka happily tells the gang that she has been offered as a job as her country's ambassador to France, but Latka objects and the two argue. Arnie and Elaine return from a date in high spirits and Louis voices his awe of Arnie's excellent luck. He attempts to ask out an attractive woman in the garage, imitating Arnie's bashful nature, but it ends badly. Tony asks Elaine about her relationship with Arnie and learns that she has not yet introduced him to her children, worried that they will grow too attached. They encourage her to let them meet, however, and when she cannot find a baby-sitter she decides to invite Arnie to dinner with her kids after all. Jim weighs in with his own alarming story about breaking up with a woman who had children. Simka and Latka continue arguing and Latka finally gives in, but Simka admits that the job is no more, as their country has broken off diplomatic relations with France.
Arnie frets about the dinner, worrying if Elaine's children will like him, and Alex urges him to simply be himself, although Louis offers an unhelpful story about another of Elaine's exes. At her apartment, Elaine assures Jason and Jennifer that they are a "team" and will stick together regardless of whom she's dating, but they are instantly won over when Arnie arrives with gifts and surprises for them. He goes so far as to offer them money, but Elaine puts a stop to it, saying that he should not try to buy their affection. The children decide that they like Arnie anyway, though, and they all sit down to dinner together. Afterwards, Elaine admits that she was reluctant to allow them to become attached to him, and Arnie observes that this was because she was not sure how she herself felt about him yet. He jokes that she may be "stuck with him" now, as the children clearly like him, and she realizes that she is glad of this fact after all. Commercials deleted.
