HOME IMPROVEMENT: LET THEM EAT CAKE (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series about the host of a cable television fix-it show and his wife and three sons. A local cable awards show is coming up, but Tim does not believe that Tool Time will win, as it never has in the past. Instead, he hopes to attend Eddie’s Halloween party. Al convinces him to go to the awards show, but Mark is sick and someone must stay home with him. Randy is unavailable, as he is going trick-or-treating that night, so Tim asks Brad and his new friend Jason to stay over and watch Mark. However, Jason and Brad secretly plan to use the opportunity to throw a party in the Taylor household. At the awards show, many awards are swept up by Irma, host of a cooking show who continually gloats about her success to Tim and company. Tim keeps asking to leave, but Al insists that they stay as a show of “sportsmanship.” Brad and Jason throw their party, sending Mark upstairs when he starts complaining about his ear. Jill calls the house and Brad tries not to let on about the party, but Jill becomes suspicious and asks Tim if they can go home to check up on him, but Tim is confident that he is all right. Tool Time wins the award for best show, much to Tim’s surprise. Tim and Al go up to accept the award, despite Al having already changed into a mouse costume for the Halloween party. Zack returns home to find the party is in full swing. Brad notices Wilson observing the party from his house and goes out to talk to him, hoping to convince him not to tell his parents about the party. Tim and Jill come home disguised by their costumes, unhappy about the presence of a party. They are furious and call out Brad in front of his guests, who quickly disperse. They sit him down and berate him for his irresponsibility and for betraying their trust, as well as allowing the guests to bring alcohol. As punishment he is grounded for the next month. Includes commercials.
