FAMILY MATTERS: LITTLE BIG GUY {SEVENTH SEASON PREMIERE} (TV)

Summary

One in this comedy series about the Winslows, an African-American family living in Chicago next door to their annoying neighbor, Steve Urkel.

The Winslows are looking after Urkel while his parents are away, and Carl dreads living under the same roof as him. Richie attempts to smuggle a cat named “Mr. Buttons” into the house, but Carl doesn’t want it around. When he tries to get rid of Mr. Buttons, the cat scratches him and runs upstairs. Harriette proposes that the family go up to Lake Geneva for the weekend to get away from Urkel; Carl plans to catch up later after work.

While Carl and Urkel are alone in the house, Urkel demonstrates a new feature of his transformation chamber: the ability to enlarge objects. Urkel accidentally activates the machine and bathes himself and Carl in radiation. Rather than enlarge them, they are shrunken to miniscule size and trapped on the kitchen table. Urkel says that they must return to the chamber to restore their natural size, but the drop from the table is too great and they will have to wait for the rest of the family to return in two days.

In the meantime, Carl and Urkel attempt to get food from a nearby potato chip can. Waldo enters and, seeing the tiny Carl and Urkel, gets scared and runs off. While trying to sleep, Mr. Buttons arrives and attacks. Carl and Urkel manage to evade Mr. Buttons and drive him off by working together. Once the danger has passed, Carl confesses to Urkel that he didn’t want him to stay with them, but he admits that when he is needed most, Urkel is always there for his friends. The Winslows return from their trip and Eddie trips on the chamber, restoring Carl and Urkel to normal size. However, he has also inadvertently turned Mr. Buttons into a gigantic cat. Includes commercials.
