ROSEANNE: SKELETON IN THE CLOSET (TV)

Summary

One in this series of comedies about Roseanne and Dan Conner, a working-class couple who live in Lanford, Illinois, and their three kids, D.J., Darlene, and Becky.

In this episode, Leon eagerly makes plans for his Halloween "soirée," though Roseanne refuses to give up her role as the "queen" of the holiday. Fred grows nervous as Leon flirts with him, leading Nancy to suspect that Fred "doth protest too much." Bev's attempts to play Halloween tricks on her daughters fall flat, as usual. Roseanne, unnerved by her mother's cracks about her graying hair, brings Jackie along to Bev's "old biddy salon." When they spot a wig that looks exactly like Bev's usual 'do, they suspect that she has been hiding her hair loss for years. Back at home, David awkwardly attempts to explain homosexuality to a confused D.J., observed by an amused Mark. Dan wears an extremely "manly" cowboy costume to Leon's party, not wanting to mislead any guests.

Roseanne, dressed as Prince, resolves to learn the truth about her mother's coiffure, but she is shocked to learn from another guest, "Diana Ross," that Fred is well-known to many guests at the party. She pulls Dan aside and confides that Fred is secretly gay, feeling that Jackie must be told the truth, but Dan dismisses the claim as another one of her classic Halloween jokes. Roseanne then learns that Jackie and Fred fled the party early, and she bluntly breaks the "bad news" to her sister back at home. Jackie dismisses the seemingly crazy idea, but they then find Fred in bed with a man – Dan, who reveals that the entire thing was a joke on Roseanne. Later, Bev arrives and, outraged that her daughters visited her salon, dramatically removes her wig and scares Roseanne with her future – then joined by the rest of her newly "bald" family. Roseanne, however, gets the last laugh with a show-stopping prank. Includes commercials and promos.
