KNOTS LANDING: FOUND AND LOST {FOURTEENTH SEASON PREMIERE} (TV)

Summary

The fourteenth and final season premiere in this night-time drama serial, spun off from the series "Dallas," about the residents of the small southern California community of Knots Landing. In this episode, Paige is shocked by the reappearance of Pierce, whom everyone believed to have drowned. He pulls a knife on her, but she is rescued by Alex and Pierce is arrested. Mac hurries to Karen's side and Gary informs them that Val called from Florida to warn them about Mary Robeson, who is claiming to be Meg's biological grandmother and may have kidnapped her. Claudia demands that Pierce's attack on Paige be "handled quietly" and decides to take advantage of the situation, urging Paige not to "hurry back" to the company too quickly. Greg heads off to a remote cabin, aided by Sam, and Gary continues searching for Meg, assuring Mac and Karen that Val will return that night with more information. Katie visits Paige and comforts her after her ordeal, offering to stay overnight, and she thanks Alex with a kiss for saving Paige's life. Mary happily spends time with Meg at the playground, though Meg is wary of her attention and seems unconvinced by her claim of their being family.

Anne surprises Greg at his cabin, and he informs her that she cannot stay with him. Claudia throws Alex out of the house, aware that he is still seeing Katie against her wishes and sure that he is only interested in her money. Karen and Mac are deeply relieved when Mary brings Meg home to them, and Karen reminds her daughter about not trusting strangers as Mac angrily demands answers from Mary. Mary declares that Laura was indeed her daughter and was unfairly taken away as a baby, explaining that she was unable to track her down until after her death. Paige suffers insomnia and complains that Pierce will "haunt her forever," and Katie assures her that she is not to blame for being taken in by his charms, especially while on the rebound from Greg. Alex stops by to "check on them," and Katie confesses her interest in him to Paige. Anne questions Greg about his departure from Knots Landing, wondering if he has a "deep, dark secret," and Gary is upset when Val fails to return from Florida at the scheduled time, telling Karen that his wife has become "obsessed" with the Sumner biography and is acting unlike herself. Paige attends Pierce's arraignment, but he becomes agitated upon spotting her and is removed from the courtroom.

Greg is floored when Anne informs him that she is pregnant with his child, declaring that he is too old to be a father again, though she seems happy about the prospect. Paige visits Pierce in jail, supervised by a doctor, and Pierce matter-of-factly tells her that he intended to kill her and then himself to ensure that they are "together forever," vowing to return to her upon his release. Mary tells her brother that she intends to sue Mac and Karen for visitation rights to Meg, though he argues that neither they nor Greg will ever allow it. Greg hikes off into a canyon and leaves behind a note for Anne telling her that "it never could have worked" with the two of them raising a child together, but she decides to follow him despite Sam's warnings about the dangerous terrain. Gary receives a phone call and learns that Val checked out of her hotel before heading to the airport but never made it onto the plane, and he frets to Karen and Mac that "something bad" has happened to her.
