KNOTS LANDING: GOD WILL (TV)

Summary

One in this night-time drama serial, spun off from the series "Dallas," about the residents of the small southern California community of Knots Landing. In this episode, a bat-wielding Danny corners Gary, furious about his relationship with Val, and attacks him, breaking his arm. He then forces him into the backseat of a car and drives up the coast. Elsewhere, Anne reports her car stolen and learns that it has been repossessed. Tom tries to tell an angry Mack that Greg blackmailed him into leaving Paige at the altar, swearing that he has changed his ways and needs another chance to prove himself. Anne learns that Paige cannot receive her inheritance until she marries, so she urges her daughter to reconsider Tom after all, saying that he loves her despite his flaws. Mack and Anne both confront Greg separately, and Greg indirectly acknowledges his actions against Tom. Anne speculates that he wanted to prevent the wedding in order to have Paige all to himself, though says that she will not forgive him. When Kimmy visits her, Val tries to convince her that Danny is evil and manipulative, though Kimmy seems unconvinced. Tom orders a pair of expensive stockings as a gift for Paige, hoping to win her over again.

Claudia visits Greg and tells her that Kate will be attending school in California on a full scholarship, though he declines her dinner invitation, and the office workers gossip and Greg and Paige's relationship. Danny drives to a cliff edge and forces Gary, a recovering alcoholic, to drink heavily. Citing the film "North By Northwest" as inspiration, he then puts Gary in the driver's seat and puts the car in motion, trying to make it look as though he killed himself in a drunken accident, and Gary crashes despite his attempts to stop the car. At home, Julie and Frank squabble, still clearly hurting over Pat's death. Val begins to worry about Gary and eventually reports him missing, suspecting foul play. Danny hides out at Kimmy's home, demanding to know if she has heard anything about Gary on the news. Frank prepares to go on Karen's show to talk about the issue of drunk driving, though she warns him against speaking too harshly about Danny. Claudia and Anne have a tense cup of coffee together, both highly suspicious of the other's schemes, and Claudia secretly writes down Anne's social security number and previous address, concluding that she is only after Greg's money.

Frank talks about his wife's death on Karen's TV show and soon admits that he would like to kill Danny if he could, calling him out by name for killing Pat. Danny sees this and becomes enraged, vowing to sue him, and Kimmy realizes that Val was right about his being dangerous and locks him out of her apartment. Claudia investigates and discovers that Anne is secretly broke, and Paige is dismissive of Tom's gifts, telling Anne that she can have the stockings. Anne goes over to Greg's home and attempts to seduce him, though nothing happens. Mack and Val search for Gary, and Tom arrives at Greg's home to ask him to leave Paige alone. He spots Anne's discarded clothes, however, including the stockings, and draws the wrong conclusion. Greg returns to Anne and appears to reconsider her proposal. Elsewhere, the cops lead Val to Gary's crashed and empty car, and Danny is revealed floating in a pool, dead. Commercials deleted.
