Summary
One in this series about Kevin Arnold, a young boy growing up in the suburbs during the late 1960s, whose experiences, thoughts, and reactions are recalled by the adult Kevin, who narrates and makes wry observations throughout. In this episode, Kevin basks in the glow of his "young love" with Winnie, though he finds that their attending two different schools complicates matters. He wards off the attention of the attractive and "totally dangerous" Madeline, then learning that he and Winnie's school will be taking a joint field trip to the natural history museum. Excited, he plots to get her a spot on his school bus, though she seems reluctant to "let down" her friends by avoiding them, and Madeline expresses interest in sitting with Kevin as well. The students study dinosaurs at the museum, though Kevin's friends are more interested in some other scandalous displays and Winnie is distracted by her school friends, who join her and Kevin for lunch. Kevin grows exasperated with her lack of attention, and she urges him to spend time with his own friends instead. He instead encounters Madeline, however, who says that he "looks lost," and they share a moment before Winnie finds them together. Kevin quickly pursues her through several displays, and she tearfully confesses that she has met someone new at her school, effectively ending their relationship. A stunned Kevin rejoins his clueless friends and finds the ring that Winnie has returned to him, realizing how much he truly loved her. Commercials deleted.
